About M&M
We've been laying stone in the NW Valley since 1996.
M&M opened in 1996 as a family operation out of Wittmann. Three decades later it's still a family operation out of Wittmann.
What we do hasn't changed much: pavers, flagstone, block walls, fire pits, irrigation, and the kind of yard maintenance that keeps a place looking right after we leave. The desert is hard on shortcuts — we don't take them. Compacted base, polymeric joints, drip lines sized for July, block courses set true.
We answer the phone. We show up when we said. We give a fair number on the front end and we don't surprise you on the back end. That's most of it.

Four corners of the trade we’ve been doing since 1996. Real base, real joints, real finish.
Flagstone
Cut and color-matched on site.
Mortar-set or dry-laid, depending on what the yard wants. We pull the irregular pieces, lay them out, cut the joints close, and grout or sweep DG into the gaps.
Fire pits
Block or stone, poured caps, gas or wood.
Built-ins sized for a real conversation circle — not the 36-inch drop-ins from the big-box. CMU or decorative block, poured concrete cap, ringed for safety.
Block walls
Footers right, courses level, capped clean.
Garden walls, retaining walls, pony walls, full perimeter walls. Block set on a real footer, rebar where rebar belongs, cap that finishes the line.

Pavers
Dry-laid paver patios, walkways, and driveways. Compacted base, polymeric joints, edging that holds.
Flagstone
Mortar-set or dry-laid flagstone patios, paths, and pool decks. Cut and color-matched on site.
Block & retaining walls
CMU and decorative block walls, retaining work, garden walls. Footers right, courses level.
Fire pits
Built-in fire pits in block or stone with poured caps. Gas line or wood — your call.
Stucco
Patch and finish stucco on walls, columns, and pony walls we build. Color-matched to your house.
Gravel & DG
Decomposed granite paths, drive aprons, and ground cover. Compacted to hold up under monsoon runoff.
Irrigation & timers
Drip and spray installs, valve repairs, controller swaps, leak chasing. Pressure-regulated for AZ heat.
Yard maintenance
Cleanups, trimming, weed control, pre-emergent. Routine or one-off — we'll quote either.
Tree trimming & removal
Mesquite, palo verde, palm, citrus. Trimmed clean, removed fully, hauled out.
Planting
Native and adapted desert plants, set right and watered in. We'll size the drip to match.

1996
M&M opens out of Wittmann.
Family operation, one truck, a few yards of decomposed granite, and a stack of pavers. Hardscape and irrigation from day one.
2002
Sun City West fills in.
Active-adult buildouts in the NW Valley pull desert hardscape into a recurring weekly rhythm. Block walls and paver patios become the bread and butter.
2006
The paver boom hits AZ.
Manufactured pavers go from niche to standard issue across Maricopa County. We keep the dry-laid + polymeric joint method that holds up after monsoon — most do not.
2011
Drought rewrites the front yard.
Water-utility rebates push homeowners off turf and into desert landscaping. Flagstone, DG, and drip irrigation become the standard tear-out replacement.
2018
Fire pits everywhere.
Built-in block fire pits with poured caps become the most-requested back-yard add-on in the NW Valley. We build them right — sized for a real circle, not a 36-inch drop-in.
2020
Supply tightens. We absorb it.
Block, pavers, and irrigation parts all run scarce. We hold prices on existing quotes, eat the difference, and keep the schedule moving for clients we already booked.
2026
Thirty years on the same dirt.
Same family, same name on the truck, same phone number. Pavers, flagstone, block, fire pits, irrigation. Wittmann to Wickenburg.
Materials — what we lay
The stuff that goes in the ground.
Spec-sheet view, for the homeowner who's already gotten three quotes and wants to know what's actually going in the yard. Real materials, real brands, the way the trade does it when it does it right.
Pavers
Manufactured concrete pavers — Belgard, Pavestone, Coronado lines
We lay the major desert-rated paver brands. Customer picks the look on a sample board; we set them on a compacted base and joint them with polymeric.
Joint sand
Polymeric jointing sand
Activates with water, hardens in the joint, locks pavers in place. Resists weeds, ant tunneling, and monsoon washout. We use it on every dry-laid install.
Flagstone
Arizona-quarried flagstone — buff, rosa, sedona red
Real Arizona flagstone, sourced from regional quarries. Cut on site to fit the run. Mortar-set on slab, dry-laid on DG, depending on the layout.
Ground cover
1/4-minus decomposed granite, screened
Compacts hard, drains fast, looks right. Standard for paths, drive aprons, and ground cover. We bring it in by the yard, lay it deep, and tamp it.
Block
CMU block + decorative split-face
Standard 8" CMU for retaining and perimeter walls. Decorative split-face when the wall faces the front yard. Footer poured to depth, rebar where it belongs, courses level.
Caps
Poured concrete caps + precast cap stones
Fire-pit caps, wall caps, column caps. Poured on site for built-ins, precast when the run is long and clean.
Irrigation
Hunter / Rain Bird drip + spray, pressure-regulated
Industry-standard valve manifolds, controllers, and emitters. Pressure-regulated heads sized for AZ summer pressure spikes. Filters on the supply side.
Edging
Steel + plastic paver edging
Held with 10" spikes on a compacted edge. Locks the perimeter so the field doesn't walk over time.

Hardscape pricing depends on access, footprint, and how much old material has to come out. We won't quote a paver patio sight unseen — but the walkthrough is free and the written estimate is on the same paper.
